From the Manufacturer

Yamaha's NS-B210 Bookshelf Speakers Maximize the Potential of HD Sources

High Sound Quality for HD Era
With more and more music and movie sources becoming high definition, such as digital broadcasting and Blu-ray Discs, your speakers have to be able to clearly reproduce the detail and clarity that these sources provide. The NS-B210 speaker uses new aluminum woofers for extra-fast response and to ensure the best possible sound from HD sources. The NS-B210 speaker is designed to reproduce the full, dynamic sound of HD sources.

Aluminum Cone Woofers

Bigger, better sound
The use of lightweight, high stiffness aluminum for the woofer diaphragm allows high speed cone movement for fast response to each sound (fast attack). The sound is clean and detailed, with exceptionally good bass response. In addition, because the unit does not have magnetic shielding, a larger than normal magnet could be used, allowing more sound information to be extracted from the source for more realistic sound staging.

Design
The elegant finishes of the NS-B210 are available to compliment a variety of interiors. The slim design matches flat panel TVs and also allows for easy placement anywhere, they can also easily be mounted to the wall.

3For $80/ea, they're OK, as long as you understand their limitations.
By RichJ
I'll make this review as objective as I can. If you're considering the Yamaha NS-B210 as inexpensive front speakers for your home theater or audio system, keep looking, because you can do a lot better. I bought these speakers as temporary upgrades for my rear and side surround speakers when I recently started upgrading my home theater system. And for that purpose, they're fine for now. These speakers are advertised as "full-range speakers", although that's probably a very optimistic description at best considering their 75Hz - 35kHz frequency response. After auditioning these speakers for a couple of months with my home system, I can't seriously recommend them for anything other than rear (or side) surround speakers based on their sound and their construction. The lack of bass during auditions using a wide range of material fully supports the frequency specs. For what it's worth, I use these NS-B210's as rear and side surrounds along with Def Tec BP6B's for the front mains, a Polk TL-3 center, and a Mirage Omni S8 sub, all powered by a Yamaha RX-V571 receiver. Like the review title reads, for $80/each on Amazon, they're OK as long as you understand their limitations before you buy and you don't have unreasonable expectations. With speakers, you typically get what you pay for. I didn't have big expectations of these Yamaha speakers to begin with and I got what I expected. I expect these Yamaha speakers will eventually be replaced with Mirage Nanostats. I hope this review has been useful. Enjoy!

5Great Speakers
By SoCalGuy
These speakers sound really good for the cost and size, much better than more expensive competitors speakers for less money. Bought these for a Christmas party at our house and they work great. I am using these for music, not as part of an AV system but I think they would work well for either.
